The University of Glasgow (GLAS) was established in 1451 and is ranked within the top 100 universities in the world and a member of the Russel Group of elite universities in the UK and ranked 3rd in the UK for Agriculture and 5th for Biology. The College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences (MVLS) has an annual research income of £133 M from UK, EU, international and charity funding. MVLS consists of eight multidisciplinary research schools that bring together internationally renowned experts advancing research in medical, veterinary and life sciences through practicing a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach at every level of biological organisation, from genes, to cells, organs, individuals, populations, and ecosystems. The School of Molecular Biosciences provides an excellent academic and multi-disciplinary research environment for the development and execution of the proposed doctoral research project. Dr Kaiserli and Dr Antoniou-Kourounioti have a fully established labs and access to all essential as well as highly specialised photobiology and molecular and cellular biology equipment and core facilities at GLAS.
